The Rosa Parks Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is composed of devoted parents and caregivers whose mission is to positively impact the lives of all children, families, teachers, and staff at our school.

The PTA provides critical support throughout the year, from the weekly Dragon Tales newsletter, to community gatherings like the Welcome Back BBQ and Movie Nights, to crucial fundraising efforts that support field trips, classroom supplies, community events, our gardening program, and augmented staffing.

Meetings happen monthly, with volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

The Parent Teacher Community Council (PTCC) of the Japanese Bilingual Bicultural Program (JBBP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization. It serves the vital role of advancing the mission of JBBP, which is to preserve and share the legacy of Japanese language and culture for future generations. This includes fundraising in support of subsidizing the salaries of "Sensei" and related professional and curricular development, as well as funding Japanese cultural events, supplies, textbooks, and related program expenses. Additionally, the PTCC works hand in hand with the PTA to jointly support classroom stipends and field trips for students from all of our programs.

All parents/caretakers who have children enrolled in the JBBP are automatically members of the PTCC.

General meetings take place once a month, with volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

The School Site Council (SSC) is a California State mandated council made up of families, community members, school staff, and our principal. We review and analyze student achievement data, gather community input, and help develop the Balanced Scorecard/Single Plan for Student Achievement (BSC/SPSA) and the school site budget. We ensure that priorities and concerns from the RP community are incorporated into the school plan and work with school and district administration to set goals for school performance.

General meetings take place once a month, with a district-wide summit in the spring.

The Green Team is dedicated to maintaining and caring for our gardens and chickens, and supporting our beloved garden education program led by our non-profit partner Community Grows. We perform garden maintenance and chicken care throughout the year, implement garden improvement projects, and contribute to and host events for both community building and fundraising.

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available throughout the year, from helping with garden upkeep at weekend workdays, to joining the chicken care team, to larger roles like event planning. General meetings take place monthly.

The mission of the African American Advisory Council (AAPAC) is to provide a forum to hear the ideas of the San Francisco Unified School District’s African American and Black families, and respond to those ideas by educating and informing parents of district resources, policies, and programs. It is our goal to empower the lives of all African American and Black children and families by providing the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for a high quality educational experience for our children.

AAPAC works to develop resources that allow families to more actively support the academic instruction their children receive and engage with educators and administrators in the San Francisco Unified School District.

The English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC) is a committee for parents and other community members that serves as the voice of the English learner community; it advises the principal and School Site Council (SSC) on programs and services for English learners. Specifically, the ELAC:

• Advises on the development of services for English learners in the Balanced ScoreCard/Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).

• Assists in the development of the school’s needs assessment and efforts to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.

• Has representation on District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC).
